The Sun Mask of Teotihuacan

XIUHRA takes its form from ceremonial masks found in the ancient city of Teotihuacan, where the Sun was revered as the giver of life and cosmic order. The radiant yellows and reds channel the heat and light of the midday sun, while the turquoise evokes the sky and sacred waters: a balance between fire and life.

Its bold circular eyes and structured geometry reflect the stylized artistry of Mesoamerican ritual objects, designed to honor the Sun's eternal cycle.

Mythic Connection

Teotihuacan, "the place where the gods were made", was the city where the Fifth Sun was born. Its masks were not portraits; they were thresholds, made to give a face to what could not be seen.
